Sony Interactive Entertainment, Guerrilla Games, and Nixxes Software’s highly anticipated project, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, is continuing to excite players as its release draws near. The differences between the original game and the remastered version have become much more striking based on the first images.
Is Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster worth it?
One of the most noticeable improvements in the remastered version is the redesigned global illumination system. Ambient Occlusion has been enhanced, and the textures have been completely revamped. The game world now feels more alive; the vegetation is denser, and the number of NPCs (non-playable characters) has been increased.
When compared to the original game, the light-shadow interaction in the Remastered version is particularly eye-catching. The shadows cast by wooden beams, the way the ground textures interact with light, and the volumetric fog effects bring the game’s atmosphere to an entirely new level.
The terrain by the riverbanks looks more detailed now. Moss on the rocks, fog effects around waterfalls, and water reflections enhance the level of realism to its peak. Bricks on the exteriors of buildings are now fully modeled, and the improved lighting system makes different parts of the structures stand out much more clearly.
There are also significant improvements in the character models. The waxy appearance from the original game has been replaced with more realistic skin textures, and details in clothing and metal objects are much more convincing. Particularly, details such as hair and beards have reached a Horizon Forbidden West level of quality. Dialogue animations have also been reworked for a more natural look.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered goes beyond being just a visual upgrade package, promising a truly next-gen gaming experience. Players will have the chance to relive Aloy’s adventures with much more impressive visuals.
